Successfully used by physicians for years
Botox is an FDA-approved treatment option for reducing wrinkling of the skin caused by muscular contraction. Botox has been successfully used by physicians for years. This is accomplished by injecting the neurotoxin into the muscles that are contracting to cause the formation of wrinkles. This relaxes the muscle and smooths the appearance of the wrinkles created by those muscles. Common sites for injection include the forehead, area between the eyes, crow’s feet, and around the mouth, and nose. Because these injections eliminate muscle contraction for months it is important to receive your injections with experienced and well-trained hands. The effects of Botox can usually start to take effect 3-7 days after injection, but can take about 2 weeks to fully set in. Depending on the use of the muscles, effects can last 3-6 months in most patients. Over time with re-injection, the skin appears smoother because of the inactivity of the muscles. The procedure is very quick with minimal discomfort.
